Location: El Segundo High School South Gym

League Fee: The league fee is $203.00 per team. The cost for non-resident groups is $243.00 per team.  League fees and completed rosters are due by the registration deadline.

"A" League: Advanced/Intermediate skill level

"B" League: Beginner/Intermediate skill level

An “open division” format will be implemented if we do not have enough interest for both an "A" and "B" League

Players must be at least 18 years-old. A valid Recreation ID Card or copy of a valid photo ID is required for all players on your roster. A maximum of 12 players are allowed on a roster at one time.

Your team must meet one of three criteria:

1. El Segundo Resident Team: Participants must be a resident of El Segundo with a valid Rec ID Card or have a Driver’s License/CA ID with a residential address. Teams must be comprised of at least 75% El Segundo residents to meet this criteria.
2. El Segundo Business Sponsored Team: Participants must be:
   • An employee of the El Segundo company/business that is sponsoring your team. A letter from management must accompany your roster on company/business letterhead to verify employment or
   • A resident of El Segundo with a valid Rec ID or have a Driver’s License/CA ID with a residential address. Seventy-five percent of the participants must meet one of these two requirements. 
3. Non-Resident Team: If the maximum amount of teams isn’t met for the league, then non-resident teams will be accepted to meet the league max.
   
   *Please submit either a photocopy of each player’s Driver's License/ID or take a picture with a smartphone, etc. and e-mail it to the Sports Specialist. This is required for every player to prevent a forfeit loss due to illegal players. No exceptions. 
   
   

The last week to add or drop players from your roster will be the midway point of the season (TBD). An official add/drop form can be obtained by e-mail.

REMINDER: All roster changes will require an add/drop form. The submission deadline will be the same as the forfeit notification (4:00 p.m. the day before your scheduled game). Any person(s) submitted after this deadline will not be eligible.

Managers are responsible for knowing all league specific rules and communicating them to their players.

Any player (or spectator) who has been ejected from a game must vacate the facility within five minutes. They are also automatically suspended for the next game without exception. If the individual refuses to leave, the game will result in a forfeit for their team. Incidents that are deemed severe (physical altercations, spitting, etc.) may result in additional penalties. Recreation & Parks Department Staff will determine the severity and length of suspension in these specific cases. Any physical contact with a referee will result in an automatic ejection for that game and the remainder of the season. The player in question must request special permission, in writing, from the Sports Specialist to be reinstated for the following season.

Fighting is an automatic indefinite suspension for every player involved and this cannot be appealed. Teams involved in a fight will also be suspended indefinitely until the Recreation Specialist makes a ruling. If a player is ejected from a game for any reason, that player will be suspended for the remainder of the current game as well as the next game. The player will also be subject to further suspension should it be deemed necessary by the Sports Supervisor. Please see our Supplemental Rules for additional information.

All rules not stated here will be at the discretion of the referee. If a team is found to be in violation of these rules, the offending player will be ejected from the game and a one game suspension will be assessed

Forfeit fees should be paid at the game site or paid at the Joslyn Center within one week. If you know in advance that your team will not have enough players to play, please notify the Recreation Specialist no later than 4:00pm the day before your scheduled game. This will ensure that your team will not have to pay the $70.00 forfeit fee.

The contractor for our referees is A to Z Officiating. Recreation Staff may also be assigned as needed. Referees contracted through A to Z Officiating do not work for the City of El Segundo. Any complaints should be directed to the Recreation Specialist.

Official’s dues are $35.00 per team per game (must be submitted prior to game time). Please plan accordingly as Staff does not have any change.

1. Go to esrec.org and log in (your username is your email)
2. If using a smartphone or tablet, select the “desktop version” before proceeding
3. In the top left corner, you should see an “account” tab. Select that item
4. From your “dashboard” you should see “Adult Basketball League – (Spring '22)”
5. Select your team name which should open up the schedule and allow you to view the standings

You can sync the schedule with the calendar on your device (or computer.) Team members can be sent an invitation to view the same information (requires first/last name and email)

Each team shall have matching uniforms, with a distinctive number on the back, so that the referees and score keepers can identify them

Teams/Players without numbers will first be given a warning. If a second violation occurs, one technical foul could be assessed to each participant without the correct uniform

There are two 20 minute halves.  Players are allowed six fouls per game. Upon receipt of their sixth foul, said player shall be disqualified from further play in that game. 

Clock Stops:  

• When a timeout is called
• When the clock is under two minutes left in the second half and the score differential is 10 points or less

Timeouts: 

• Each team will have two timeouts available per half
• If a team doesn’t use a timeout in the first half, one of the timeouts will carry over to the second half (three total)

Overtime (If necessary):

• Up to two overtime periods (each 2 minutes in length) until a winner is decided

Each team will be given one timeout per overtime period. Carryover of unused timeouts from the second half (or overtime) does not apply

If score is still tied after the two overtime periods, a “sudden death” round will be played to determine a winner (next basket wins)

If any manager wants to dispute the eligibility of a certain participant, they must request that the referees and staff validate the signed roster and photo ID’s before the start of the game. Any protest filed after the contest begins must be submitted to the Recreation Specialist within 24 hours and accompanied by a $25.00 check. The Recreation Specialist will validate the player on the roster in question or rule on any other protest.
