Recreation & Parks Commission 

The Recreation & Parks Commission was established on March 23, 1938, by Resolution #448. It is composed of five members who must be residents of El Segundo. Commissioners serve with minimal compensation for four-year terms without term limits. The Commission advises the City Council on all matters about recreation, parks, parkways, and street trees. It makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the level of service, and policies and assists in implementing Recreation & Parks Department improvements and programs, including youth and teen programming, senior outreach, transportation services, aquatics programming, and park development.

Date: The Commission meets on the third Wednesday of every month.

Arts and Culture Advisory Committee (ACC) 

The Arts and Culture Advisory Committee (ACC) promotes the growth of public art, events and cultural programs in El Segundo to foster economic development, create vital public spaces, and enhance general health and welfare by contributing to a more desirable community in which to live, work, and visit. The Arts and Culture Advisory Committee advises on the Cultural Development Program approved by City Council in November 2019. 

Date: The Committee meets the fourth Tuesday of the month

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee 

In 2020, City Council established the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. The purpose of the committee is to work with the community to gain a deeper understanding of the issues and determine how to move forward to bring positive change so everyone who lives, works and visits El Segundo feels welcome. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee engages with the community, evaluates current policies, and offers recommendations to the City Council.

Date: The Committee meets the second Wednesday of each month

Park Renovation Subcommittee

In 2023, the City Council established the Park Renovation Subcommittee, formally known as the Recreation Park Renovation Subcommittee. The purpose of the committee is to involve the community in renovations and upgrades to several amenities throughout all the City’s parks.

Date: The Subcommittee meets on the fourth Thursday of each month 
Time: 4:00 p.m.

Aquatics Subcommittee

The Aquatics Subcommittee was re-established in 2015 to be more inclusive to all things aquatics! The subcommittee provides valuable feedback, input, and assistance in decision-making to enhance the quality and functionality of all aquatic facilities and associated programs in the City. Facilities include the El Segundo Wiseburn Aquatics Center, Hilltop Pool, and the Urho Saari Swim Stadium (The Plunge).
